Gateway Green Matcha

Gateway Green Matcha is a premium, authentic Japanese tea brand conceptualized and designed from the ground up. Based in Fukuoka, Japan, a region renowned for its bold, rich umami flavor profiles, the brand bridges traditional Japanese heritage with contemporary, minimalist packaging design. This project encompasses full brand identity creation, logo design, brand guidelines, dieline engineering, and a final 3D product mockup. The name Gateway serves as a tribute to Fukuoka’s cultural heartbeat: the historic Kushida Shrine, affectionately nicknamed "the gateway" by local residents. The brand aims to act as a literal gateway for consumers to experience authentic, high-quality Japanese matcha culture. The logo design features a stylized, bold representation of the Kushida Shrine's gate architecture. Enclosed within the gate is a single matcha leaf. This imagery symbolizes the shrine gate "protecting" the sacred flavor, purity, and tradition of the matcha cultivation process. Deeply inspired by the clean lines of modern Japanese design, the packaging layout incorporates strict geometric frames and shapes. The front panel features a minimalist, line-art illustration of terraced tea fields under a rising sun, directly connecting the consumer to the origin of the product. The side panel proudly features a silhouetted map highlighting Fukuoka, reinforcing regional authenticity. Heavily utilized to represent the vibrant, rich color of pure green tea leaves and Fukuoka’s lush terraced farms. The Yellow symbolizes the radiant sun and the organic, natural beauty found throughout Japan's landscapes. The Beige/Off-White Acts as a clean, calming neutral base that mirrors traditional Japanese paper textures and allows the bold graphics to pop.
